Complete systems

OpenIT is spezialized on complete systems with a server and a number of thin clients.

A thin client is for example a diskless PC or a appliance specially built for this. The idea is that a programs run on the server but the visual output can be seen on the workstations display.

The advantages of such a system is for exaple that all programs are on the server and therefor easy to upgrade (no foot work). Likewise all user files are easily backed up because they all are on the same server.

A additional advantage with thin clients is that they are cheaper to buy and maintain, while there are no moving parts in them (harddisks, fans etc.). The power consumption of a thin client can be as low as 10W, while a ordinery PC may consume about 200-300W.
